When The Sun Shines

There is a whole range of outdoor activities available locally in the Ennerdale area such as:  

• Fell Walking

• Dinghy Sailing (Bassenthwaite)

• Ennerdale is also at the end of the first day in Alfred Wainwright’s Coast to Coast Walk.

  When it Doesn’t

There are many activities in and around the West Cumbrian area for the days when the weather is not so good these include:

• Georgian Port, Beacon and New Marina Development at Whitehaven

• The Technologically stunning Sellafield Visitors Centre

• The Rum story museum and tour in Whithaven

• The Ratty Narrow Gauge Steam Railway from Ravenglass to Eskdale

• The award winning Maryport Aquarium

• The Georgian Market Town of Cockermouth with its art galleries,Wordsworth heritage. and Jennings brewery tours.

• Rheged Visitors Centre

• Honister Slate Mine

In addition to the above, the Village of Ennerdale Bridge is only a few minutes walk down the Valley and offers a children’s play area, village Post Office and Shop. Also located in the Village is the Shepherds Arms, which is an excellent Pub and Restaurant. More substantial shopping is provided in Cockermouth to the North East and Cleator Moor and Whithaven to the West.
